This is a 10 foot new jon boat with no registration numbers or tags. It has the HIN number. There was a big storm and we were fishing in a cove and we found it submerged under some driftwood. We pulled it out and towed it back the boat ramp. The TP&W said there was no way I could get it registered. I just want to put a 2.5 hp outboard on it but I want it to be legal. Can anyone help?

  1. tell them you built the boat register it as home made.i did that back in the 80s it might still work.

  2. From what I have read about it, it may be difficult in any state, not just in Texas.  Your best source of information is probably the TP&W and if they say it is not possible it probably isn't.  Here are a few interesting links I found when looking for an answer though.  Best of luck in finding a solution.

  3. Take the Vin # to the tag office see if they will give you the owners name? Then contact them ask if they will pay you for the salvage or if you can negotiate for the title? It's not a high dollar amount> Don't get caught using it if was reported stolen??? Good luck>
