Question:

How do I register for a YahooID through email (no Internet website access)?

I created a Yahoo group for my friends to join. But some of them work at companies that block access to Internet websites, including Yahoo!.

Is there a way for them to sign up to a Yahoo! group without a Yahoo! ID (I think not).

Is there a way for them to sign up for a YahooID just via email, not needing to go to the Yahoo! website to register?

Thanks,

~Andrew~

  1. Yahoo Groups are email and internet based, and there is no way around that. However you as the owner could agree to print out messages to and from the group and mail them to these friends if you wish.

Anyone with email access, even if websites are blocked, can join by sending an email: groupname-subscribe@yahoogroups.com and this will allow you to admit them. They will receive emails from the group and can send emails to the group. A member only needs a yahoo ID to go to the groups web site.

Also, as the owner, you can go into Invite (at the left of the site's page) and then at the bottom of the Invite page there is "Add members from an existing email list". From that page add your friends email addresses.
