How do I register my German wedding in America?

I was married in Germany but need to register in my State of California. I'm not sure who I contact regarding this.

The first part part was answered by MaMou but somehow she didn't finish. - So the consulate guys will help you to get the Apostille on your international marriage certificate from Germany if you do not got one. In the case you got it already just go ahead and visit your local  civil registry office.
