Question:

How do I relieve the pain of skin scrapes?

Yesterday, I washed my clothes by hand. I was wondering why my fingers were burning. My friend's boyfriend told me that it was because I was scrubbing the washcloths against my skin. I didn't even realize. Lots of times I'm always zoned & spaced out because of the 2 strokes I had when I was 5 yrs. old.

For a split second, I was wondering if I was having an allergic reaction. Thank goodness I wasn't. & then, when I saw my fingers, I had to be extra careful not to rub them against the washcloths. It was hard to try not to. Now, my fingers are all scraped up, & they burn.

  1. Bactine or the new Neosporin spray (but not the ointment) will work.  They both have a local anesthetic (lidocaine) in them that will numb them area for a few hours.  Then you can reapply.

  2. Try an over the counter topical ointment, preferably anti-bacterial, and keep your hands as dry as possible.

When you wash, don't rub them dry, just pat them gently.

If they don't get better, see a doctor.
