Let's just say I'm an idiot and I need to move a post about 6 inches. Unfortunately, its a 15-foot long 6x6, buried in concrete up to 4 feet.

Can't get any kind of vehicle or Bobcat to it. Would a bumper/high-lift jack be able to do it and can I borrow one from Partsource?

  1. Start digging. Its going to take  a lot of it

  2. Find something large and solid like a barrel.  Place it about four feet from the post.  Place two 2X6 across the top of the barrel and angled  down next to the post.  Put a solid brace under the 2X6's with a car jack underneath.  Use something so the jack will not push into the ground.  Clamp the 2X6 to the side of the post and jack it up.  When you run out of travel on the jack, loosen the clamps and reset.  This may take some time but you have a lot of leverage to pull the post and the concrete.

  3. there is any easy way but it's a little noisy. dynamite!

  4. Saw it off at the base

  5. I'd use an electric jack hammer (about 40 - 60 lbs) with a 2" chisel & point.  With a little luck the concrete will be "fence post" concrete won't be too strong.  It will take bit of doing, but you'll get the concrete out.
