Question:

How do I remove a brown pan stain off the bottom of my steel kitchen sink?

I've never had this problem before, I may have put my hot pizza pans directly on the bottom of the cold steel sink and that probably caused it, and I've tried scrubbing with a metal scrubber/hot water/dish detergent and it's not getting it done. Your answers would be greatly appreciated!

  1. by metal scrubber, was it a chore boy? those always get the brown off my steel, sometimes it just takes more time and elbow grease then others

  2. put white toothpaste on a cloth and rub directly on the stain - works every time

  3. Use one of those "green scrubbers" with CameO Stainless Steel cleaner.  You can buy both at Wal-Mart!

  4. The best thing that works for the tough-to-get-off stains is CLR.

It comes in a gray bottle.

It works the best in my opinion. And the best thing is, CLR can be used for all types of cleaning duties.

  5. comit, and a sos pad.

  6. You might want to try Comet/Ajax/"powder cleanser", or that special cleaning powder for stainless steel cookware.

  7. s***w these other answers, boil water in it to loosen it up, then scrub clean with an SOS pad. The only way to break it down is to boil it clean.

  8. maybe you like branded the metal.

try comet. all different cleaning solutions but not bleah & amonia! lol

  9. Use the green scrubbing pad.  It will not scratch like an sos pad or Comet.  Use some dish washing liquid with it.  It should lessen or remove the stain.

  10. I have used a product called 'BarKeepers Friend' to remove similar stains in my white kitchen sink.  Pour it on heavy and add a little water to make a paste and just scrub away with your basic green scrubby pad.

  11. I would try soft scrub cleanser (with bleach), or if you prefer a more earth friendly method make a paste out of baking soda (mix baking soda and tap water till the thickness of toothpaste, you might also be able to add a little vinegar for some added punch), apply and let sit and rub with a soft (dishrag) or cloth, and rinse.

  12. First choice, Bar Keepers Friend, a lightly abrasive cleaner that works well on appliances, sinks, and counter tops.

Second choice, Comet, a more aggressive scouring powder.

  13. 2 points

  14. scrub w/ soil

  15. I'm an engineer and from my experience stainless steel 400 series will turn a goldish brown when heated. If that's what happened then the color is all the way threw. Check my theory. Look under the sink and see if it is. If so try using a heat gun and see if that will soften the mark.

  16. Have you tried Softscrub?  It really works great.

  17. Try some "Vim" thick bleach or CLR.
