  1. Having removed the front wheel you have to look at the tyre, remove the valve, release the compressed air. You need to support the tyre, a circular support that allows the wheel rest on the rim and not the brake disc or the hub. Then break the bead away from the wheel – this can be done by hand sometimes by pushing down hard, sometimes you need to use a bead-breaker or a vice, then use tyre irons to lift the tyre half off the second half should lift off easily. This can be a struggle and can be helped by using a soapy solution to slide it off, heating it is a last resort and can be dangerous. When replacing a new tyre make sure that you get the direction right (there will be an arrow on the tyre showing the direction of movement). A tube is sometimes fitted, essential on a spoked wheel, this adds to the struggle as you don't want to pinch it anywhere. On an old wheel the tapes covering the spoke ends could well have perished, either way clean any corrosion before you re-fit the tyre. Although it is relatively simple with enough brute strength don't do it if you are not confident, just remove the wheel and take it to a pro. Balancing the wheel is also important.

While you are doing all that you might want to replace the bearings.
