Question:

How do I remove a s***w from underneath?

I bought a used air conditioner which had a small metal attachment screwed to the bottom for the remote when used for window installations. I'd like to install the A/C into a wall, but need to remove the piece in order to do so. The problem is, the piece is screwed in, and the heads are inside the frame (the previous owner attached them, a bit too well, I'm afraid) and I can't get access to them. What tool can I use to cut extract the screws from the entry side, push it out, or perhaps cut off the screws or the offending metal piece?

  1. Use a reciprocating saw with a metal blade to cut the screws.

  2. Tin-snips should do the job, either getting you access or cutting the screws.

  3. Not sure I`ve entirely sized up your situation, but it sounds as though you may have to remove the unit from the case to access them.

  4. Buy a cheap Dremel knockoff and use the cutting wheel to cut the screws off flat, you should be able to push them through the metal then.

  5. OK so first you need to see what size s***w it is then you need to find a s***w driver the same shape as the shape on the end of the s***w and make sure it is the right lengh and then carefully put the end of the s***w driver in the shape on the s***w and turn it untill the screws come out

    hope this helps

  6. The screws can be accessed by removing the front, then the casing of the unit.

    OR

Grind them off with a grinder of some kind.

Doesn't really matter as you arrive at the same result.

    Good luck!
