Just acquired a new cat and he has several hard, matted lumps on his back? Do I cut them out or is there something I can buy?

  1. make a appointment to the vet and get it shaved

  2. I'm not sure what to do with it but I know its because you are not grooming her enough.

  3. comb her

  4. You might try holding her down real well, and then spraying some of the mats.  Then once they are a little more loose, comb them out.  Or you can TRY to soak them by putting her in the tub.

  5. There's no way to untangle it so you'll just have to cut them out

  6. it will hurt your cat, but the best way is to pull hard and do it in one go, then start feeding your cat Iams fur ball biscuits, these worked well for our cat

  7. I have a cat who is always getting clumps of tangled hair!

I cut them out gently making sure that you dont go to close to the skin, its best to do this when there calm. Just give him a treat once your finished and he/she will be fine.

  8. i think you should gently cut them off with some small nail scissors, or if you have a shaky hand, let the vet do it :)

  9. cut them out don't rip them out.  or go to the pet they will do it for you

  10. Cut them out quite close to the skin, if you are not confident get a vet to do it.  Pulling or brushing can be painful.

  11. your cat needs them shaved off. Do not, i repeat, DO NOT, cut them out because you could cut your cat. Rule #1 when grooming mats at my vet clinic is never use scissors to remove mats. Sometimes you can't tell if its mat or skin.

  12. Go to your local pet store. You can purchase a special scissors designed specifically for removing mats from dogs and cats. They work great. Just go into the grooming isle, or ask a sales associate. Best of luck with your new kitty!

  13. buy a cat brush, and carefully brush them out. that's what my mom does to one of my cats that gets matted clumps of fur. If it is too hard to brush out just cut it out, but be careful because you don't want to touch the cat's skin or hurt the cat. Hope I Helped!!!

  14. Do not pull them out!  Whoever suggested that is crazy, that would be so painful and so cruel to the cat.

I try to cut them out, but you have to be very careful because the mats can be very close to the skin. I've found it's easier to cut off the mat in the middle and the rest of the mat can work itself out.

Or you can take the cat to the groomer or the vet and have a professional shave the cat.

  15. where did you get your new cat in that state poor thing glad its got a new owner like you that cares enough to groom it well there isant anything that you can buy im afraid you have to cut them out and you need to be carefull cus you could cut the skin i would take it to be gromed properly you can look in the phone book under pet groomers or contact your vet they will help you, enjoye your lovley feeline friend.

  16. You could cut down vertically near the top of the lumps, that will free

some of the tangle, you may be able to sort out the fur without having a bald cat at that point. Be very careful not to go to near the skin, cats can move very quickly if you are not holding them firmly. My Gran did it that way, after the cat returned from a cornfield covered in matts.

  17. shave her
