Question:

How do I remove red wine stains from a non-washable item?

My husband put half a bottle of red wine into the drawer with the empty bottles (!!!!). The drawers are made of cream pvc coated nylon and can only be sponge cleaned. The red wine is all over one of them and there are very large drip marks on the front of 2 others. We've tried sponge-cleaning - not much difference at all.

Any sensible ideas greatly appreciated.

  1. I will suggest that you spray the spot with Windex leave it on for about a minute then rub it off with a clean sponge.

If windex does not remove all the stains on the first shot then repeat it two or three times.

    Good luck

  2. Try using hydrogen peroxide to wipe the stains.  Hydrogen peroxide is good at taking out "organic" stains.  It'll even take blood out of clothing.

  3. try soda water I know it gets red wine out of carpets and clothes

  4. Try cleaning with a strong solution of Soda Crystals. They are great for removing grease, ink, blood, tea and coffee stains from clothes so its worth trying.

  5. Dissolve some OxyClean in some water and slightly dampen the area, then try rubbing them with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.  I've had Kool-Aid stains on my countertop that were easily removed with them.

  6. easy, go out and buy some ace stain remover , put it on the stain

leave it to soak in and then wash it as normal,

that is what i do when my husband spills red wine down his shirts

and it works a treat,  never fails, even gets out curry stains too.
