Hi, I want to film some Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock footage on my TV with my Canon PowerShot SD1100IS, but everytime I try, black lines come out and its only on my camera. What should i do to sync my camera and my TV or whatever, but how do I get them out? Please help me.

  1. You don't have much control with that camera... videos run at 30 frames per second, and just like still photography, you'll need to use a pretty fast shutter speed.

The only way to be able to capture this through a camera is if you go out and buy an expensive camcorder that has manual features.

  2. put it in auto mode and use the flash

  3. The horizontal lines that you see in the recorded video footage in your camera is a result of the video display technology in an analog television. When you watch a TV program the images are projected into the screen one line at a time at a rapid rate. The human eye can not perceive the ever changing image but your camera can, therefore the black lines will appear.

If you want to record something from a video source, the best way is to capture it digitally using a dedicated capture card in your computer.

However if you must record the video in your Canon Powershot, I suggest you change your TV. That's right... buy a new digital TV and hook it up to your PS3 or whatever. The technology behind the new digital TVs is called a progressive scan, if a video is recorded directly from the screen, you don't get the annoying lines because the higher resolution and refresh rates makes for a better recorded pictures.

PS: There is no setting in your camera or your TV that you can do to improve the captured video.

  4. You have to buy a recording device that'll record directly from the video source. Recording your screen with a video camera is not the way to go. Whenever you see TVs playing in movies or on TV, it's always a simulated picture. They're not really playing the program on the TV.
