How do I remove the motor from a hornby deisel loco for cleaning, its on bogies , i can see 2 lugs under body?

I can see 2 lugs under the body, do I need a special tool to do this?

Is it possible to clean it in situ with methelated spirits, If not be careful there's very fine wires inside that are coated with shelac and are easy to damage. Jim
