How do I remove the musty smell from my washing machine?

For some unknown reason my washing machine has developed a musty moldy smell. I have run many loads through the machine but the smell still remains. Any idea how to get rid of it ?

Try running your next white load with hot water and chlorox.  use the biggest water amount possible.

Try adding some bleach and  some warm water without clothes and running it for one cycle. Also, using a bleach solution to clean it with will help, too.

Run the machine empty with hot water and bleach (don't mix it with vinegar - you have to use one or the other, but bleach won't make your laundry room smell like a pickle plant).  Keep your door open between uses and don't let clothes set wet in the washer, move them straight to the dryer.

You do NOT want to mix clorox and vinegar!!!!

Just run a hot cycle with a cup of bleach, no clothes.It will kill the mold.

run a load with bleach and no clothes on hot and in between loads leave the door open.
