  1. I agree with others BUT want to be a little more detailed. But try and keep it in simple terms.

If you want to snake the drain, remove the overflow plate.  The plate that has the up/down flipper that opens/closes the tub stopper.

After you remove the screws that hold the plate in place you will need to lift it up and out.  There will be 2 brass rods that link together with a brass "bucket" at the end.

There is a good chance that the "bucket" may have a good bunch of hair on it.  If so you may have already solved the problem.  If not you may truly need to "snake "the drain.

Before snaking I would use a wet washcloth to stuff/seal the pipe behind the over flow plate you removed and Plunge the drain (you just pic'd).  That will push any blockage to the area you are about to snake.

THEN run your snake/cable down the overflow opening NOT through the area you pic'd.

    Hope this helped

    Dave

  2. for me to take that if what i did was take a knife and kind of bend it up a little and then take take some good scissors and cut a couple of the little holes and the take a hammer and lift it up and Tadaa

  3. This is a 2 piece drain and the center section should just pop or pull out.  You may have to pry up on it a little.  After that, the hole is wide open for you to run your snake.

  4. That type of fitting installs from the bottom

of the tub. You might remove the screen,

but if you take off anything else, you won't

    get it back together.

  5. I don't think you can get a snake down the drain because there is a "trap" in the drain.  Directly above that drain, about 14", there is a vent cover.  That might be a straight shot.

To answer your question on how to remove the drain, you turn counter clockwise and it threads out.  You might need a special tool to give you leverage.  I think home depot has it in the rental department or can be purchased in the plumbing isle.

    Good luck with the snake!

  6. you should snake it from the overflow. but if you want to remove the drain, use a pair of needle nose pliers in the holes and turn it counterclockwise
