Question:

How do I remove this virus permanently?

A couple of days ago I noticed windows were popping up in my browser that I hadn't opened. Knew right away it was a virus. Computer wouldn't let me restore to before the computer was infected (I'm not sure why :-[).

I know nothing about computer programs, etc. And I'm hoping to be able to get rid of this myself. I got a trial version of Avast which has found two Trojan viruses. I'm storing them in the "Virus Chest" till I know the best next thing to do.

Currently I have: Spybot Search & Destroy, CCleaner, SuperAntiSpyware, DiskCleaner, Avast, ZoneAlarm, and AdAware. Seriously have no idea what does what, I just saw something that said to clean, clean, clean the computer.

So do I do this again before or after trying to delete the virus? Will the Avast program get rid of the virus, or do I need to do more? How do I know it's really gone? Seriously I've thought it was taken care of but then when I restart my computer the background changes telling me I have spyware/virus and to download and run a program. Which I've tried doing for 2 days. This is the first time any of the programs found these viruses.......

Thanks!

  1. Spybot Search and Destroy is for spy ware, CCleaner is for saving space by deleting unnecessary files that were created normally by your computer. Zone Alarm controls internet access; you'll want that one. What you need is a program like Avira Antivirus to run a complete system scan; If any viruses/trojans are detected, delete them unless they are important.

If they're already in this "Virus Chest," however, then you'll have to delete them from there, within Avast.

  2. your better off getting AVG than avast .run spybot s&d but update first.get rid of adaware it conflicts with spybot s&d .
