How do I repack the bearings in a Sturmey Archer AW gearhub?

I understand that you should only remove the right hand cone, and I have done so. I can see the bearings but I cannot remove them (they are in a retainer). I am completely stumped - how exactly do I reach the bearings so that I can repack them?

This picture shows how far I have got.

  1. I repacked a couple old wheels in my garage just for the fun of it one day.  On those hubs, i just completely unscrewed and untightened evrything and took it all apart, and then put it all back together.  Maybe your wheel is different, but what i am saying is dont be afraid to take it completely apart, it should go back just fine.

  2. This is the internal diagram:

Yes, it's a pdf, but you need to see it.
