A small clear (at one point) rubber tube comes out of the gas tank and into the bulb that you use to prime the engine. This tube is split right there at the bulb won't stay on (and of course leaks fuel) What is the best way to get this fixed? I feel it is a do-it-yourself kind of thing.

  1. Pull off the old tube and stick a new tube on.

  2. Yup, just go to the hardware store and get the same size tubing, making sure that it is for fuel.  A trick for getting back into the tank is to cut the end at an angle so as to make a sharp point on the end of the tube.  It will go into the hole easier. You can trim it later.  There is probably a filter on the end of the hose in the tank.

  3. I had enough hose on my Homelite that I was able to snip off just the split part and push it back on.  Otherwise - you'll need to replace the hose.

  4. I know what you're talking about.  I believe there are replacements for that, as it's been said.  You tossed the instruction manual, didn't you.  Yeah, you did.  Well, go ahead and do it yourself...don't forget to first fill up the tank with gas, keep the lid off, and smoke a cigarette while you repair it.   Good times.
