Question:

How do I replace the fuse on my air compressor outside on the side of my house?

It seems easy enough, but I'm not an electrician or a heat/air guy. Although the fuse still fits in the slots, the left side of the fuse appears a little melted, including the plastic slot it fits into.

The outside compressor is not working, but the furnace inside is and has no trouble blowing air, it's just not cold!

And if this is the solution, where do I go to buy one (on Sunday no less, and tomorrow is Labor Day!)

  1. You will want to clean up (sand off) the contacts where it grabs the fuse. It is possible a poor contact there generated the heat that blew the fuse but it could indicate, as mentioned, a bad compressor.

But sure you get a "slow blow" fuse for that application.

Yes, the home stores should be open and have the fuses.

    Good Luck.

  2. Take the fuse and the holder to Home Depot/Loews and see if they have anything in their electrical department. If the fuse blows again have the compressor checked out
