  5. Report it by letter, giving as much detail as you can, preferably to the tax office covering Inverness or, if you are not from that area, to your local tax office who can forward it.  Mark it for the Inspector in Charge.

    There is no reason to withhold your name and address: this information will be treated as confidential, and is more likely to be actioned if HMRC know the bona fides of who is telling them.

    In fact I would say definitely give them your name and address: tip offs that prove particularly useful can lead to a reward - if HMRC knows who to pay it to!
