How do I report paycheck/timeclock issues?

My boss insists that we are "available" if customers come in early to our business, but will not let us clock in before 8am, even if they re there at 7:30! We have to help them but do not get paid for it. Also, we have no provision for lunches and still get 30 minutes a day deducted off our time. Who can I report this to?

  1. Report him to your state board of labor and/or ALL of you confront him and let him know he cannot do this.

  2. In Texas its the Texas Workforce Commission.

Basically its the same agency as the unemployment office in most states.

They are not allowed to make you work off the clock and are required to pay you for all hours worked.

  3. Report it to your state department of labor, wage and hours - you should be able to find a phone number on your state website.  What he is doing is illegal.

  4. Wage & Hour Division, US Department of Labor

  5. contact the dept. of labor and the labor board in your state. do a google search to find website info. in the mean time, don't show up until almost 8am, if nothing else sit in your car outside for as long as you can.
