How do I reset Microsoft Word to be the download default instead of Microsoft Powerpoint?

Somehow the default has been changed to powerpoint and now every time I go to download something, it opens in powerpoint and is not able to be read. Please help me open any downloads with Word!

I hope you mean whenever you try to OPEN something it opens is PP and you want it to open in word.  Note - "it" must be a txt or doc file if you want to read it.  Opening exe or xls files in word will be gibberish.  

BTW - when you go to download something - the file you download should be put in a folder that you create and named downloads

try to right click the file then click open with. Then find Microsoft Word and click it. Don't forget to check the check box in the bottom ALWAYS USE THE SELECTED PROGRAM TO OPEN THIS KIND OF FILE. Click Ok. I don't know if it will work for you, but i hope it will.
