  1. to release and renew the IP settings, the easiest would be to double-click on the local area connection icon on the lower right (near the clock), and click on the "support" tab (on XP) or "details" (on vista). on XP, click "repair" and on vista click "diagnose".

as for the DNS settings, you can force them onto your NIC by going into the network connections window and then right-clicking on the local area connection and selecting "properties," then selecting internet protocol (tcp/ip) and then choosing "use the following DNS servers:" and finally typing the servers in.

  2. open ur tracerts type ipcommand and than go to ur ip address and then click reset

  3. Go into the command prompt and type "ipconfig /release" and then "ipconfig /renew". If that doesn't work, reboot the laptop.

  4. IP addresses are dynamic meaning they can change.  When ever you rebott a computer a new IP address is made for you.  But to do this manually you will need to open up command prompt.

    Start/Run/"cmd"

    Type in "ipconfig/release"

    This will release your information

    Type in "ipconfig/renew"

This will make a new IP

  5. That does not fully change it

those 2 commands don't conquer anything, they just refresh the IP, this is what you have to do

    Open cmd

    (Better known as command prompt)

    type in:

    ipconfig /flushdns

    ipconfig /release

    ipconfig /renew
