How do I respond to this text?

My friend sent me a text at 3PM today asking to hang out...I just read my messages (its 5PM now) and responded tonights no good how about next weekend? she just wrote back why not? Im not trying to hide anything from her but she ALWAYS has to no why, she cant just take no for an answer....i dont want to tonight cause tommorow my boyfriend has to work at 5am, that means he will need to be in bed by 9pm...she lives 30 minutes away and so it would make it a really short night to hang out, i want to respond by saying why do you always need to know y? what do you think? cause seriously she ALWAYS tries to talk me out of a no answer and i think its rude!

  You could respond abruptly, but it might be more effective to explain things to your friend more like you did here. Tell your friend it bothers you to have to explain in detail and it's annoying when she nags or whines.
