  1. A couple of things.

    1)  Not all routers are 192.168.1.1... what type of router?

    2)  Smart owners of routers change it from 192.168.1.1 so that its not so easy to find.

    3)  Can you go to Start > Run > type CMD > type ping 192.168.1.1

Do you get anything?  If you get a reply back, it may be a browser issue.

    4)  If all else fails, reset the router to default configs by pressing the little button on the back for 10 to 20 seconds (all the lights will blink before it reboots).  This will get you back to the beginning and you can reset everything up!

  2. It might be time to reset that router.  There should be a little button or a paper-clip-wire-sized hole (into which an opened paper clip can be inserted).  Some routers reset by pressing the button or using the hole while the router is being powered on, some reset even while powered up.

Note that you'll in fact LOSE the encryption key this way, along with other configuration settings.

Too bad you can't get in.  Some routers can actually save their configurations to a file on your hard disk for post-reset situations.

    Hope that helps.
