  1. To improve your time, start increasing your speed on the last 200m with longer strides, and when you're down to the last 100m, lengthen your stride as much as possible, bring your knees high, and give it everything you've got.

  2. First, disregard ANYONE that tells you to lengthen your stride. The first thing you must know, as a runner, is to never, ever change your stride. Every single person in the world has a different stride length. Some are really long, and some are tiny. It doesn't matter. It is how fast and efficient your strides are.

There are a lot of ways to run faster when you currently run a 2:30 800-meter and you are 14-years-old. If you don't currently lift weights, then do that three days per week minimum. An 800-meter runner also needs to run at least 10-15 miles per week, which would equate to 2-3 miles per day. You should also be doing long sprints like 200-meter, 400-meter, 600-meter, 800-meter, and 1,000-meter repeat runs.
