  1. Is the dsl light on your modem blinking or is it steady? if it is blinking , that means your modem is not in synch. If u have dial tone like u mentioned, then it is either that the jack that u plug your dsl modem into went bad or your modem went bad or it could be also that u need a dedicated wire straight to your jack that feeds the modem bypassing the other jacks in the house, the phone company might have to install what is called a splitter that separates the data from the voice, and run the data wire straight to your modem's jack. Good luck. You can also check the site below, it has useful info about phone line troubles, check out the dsl page.

  2. Unplug the main line jack (Demarcation jack) from the main telephone line junction box (it unplugs like a regular phone plug).  This will isolate all internal phone wiring from the telephone company main line.

With a telephone extension cord, connect the main telco line to your DSL modem phone line input jack.  If your DSL Internet works with direct connection to the telco line, then you have verified that the telco line and your DSL modem are fine.

Next, you will need to isolate each of your home phone lines to find out which line in your house is bad.

Or, disconnect All phone internal house phone lines from the "main" junction box.  Reconnect them one-by-one.  Test each line with your DSL modem plugged into that particular reconnected line.  If the DSL router works with a given line, then that line is good; so move on to another line and connect the next line back to the main junction box and test the DSL modem. Do this until you find the line that is the bad line and repair or replace it as needed.

    P.S.

Once problem solved, remember that the DSL modem is the only unit on the phone line Not requiring a DSL line filter.  All other phone lines in the house, with a phone or fax connected will require a good DSL line filter.
