Guys, I starting running on the treadmill recently. Which part of my foot should hit the ground first, the heel or ball? So I don't pick up any injuries.

Thanks

  1. For sprinter, for short distance (example 100 meters or football players) usually hit the ground only the ball (or the part ahead of foot), but, of course, for medium or long distance should hit first the heel (the part rear of foot), after the medium (ball). You must think that your feet are doing as a imaginery wheel.. or you can see your natural walking... This for not to have problems  (tendinitis.. or else..)

  2. The ball of the foot.

  3. Well, with running in general the myth that you should run on the ball of your foot, but in some people it causes pain in their shins which can lead to shin splints.  (very painful)  And running on the ball of your foot can cause knee and hip injuries from the pounding

I would just concentrate on running with a good form and quick feet.  Your stride should land right below your body so that you can push yourself faster, and it doesn't cause injuries.  Just remember that what your body does is natural.  Don't try to change it because it causes more injuries than not.

  4. Anything over a mile definitely go with heel of foot it's the natural rolling of the foot when walking and should be carried over to distance running to avoid injury.
