How do I run correctly?

Many people tell me that I'm stomping when I'm running and they tell me to be light on my feet. How do I do this? My feet get tired super fast when I'm running, but I don't get out of breath. I'm a beginner in cross country. I'm not allowed to walk when I'm running so don't tell me to.

  1. First try to open your stride that tends to make you steps lighter. Also when you're running don't slap down on the ground. Concentrate on making the least noise possible. Also make sure you have the right kind of shoes on. When buying good running shoes make sure you go to a place that knows what they are talking about. I've been running cross country and track for four years now so I hope this helps! Good Luck and keep at it!!!

  2. What kind of shoes do you have? Make sure you are stretching before running. Be creative during your practice time. Do what works for you. If it hurts stop.

  3. Well i had a similar problem when i started cross country what you need to do is try running on the ball of your foot which is the part just under your toes eventually you will be able to run from your heel to your toe again without stomping.

  4. your propably stomping your feat try to run smoothly

  5. yeahh, open your stride a litlle bit, but don't over stride. try running on your toes and get the legs over quickly.

that how you run lighter, and not stomp.

  6. arm swing is very important. swing straight, not inward. sometimes they call it beating the midget if you swing inward.

as for running, i used to stomp down really hard too till i started using my toes for running also. plus, lift your knees up higher, it will make your job alot easier. breath through your nose and exhale through your mouth.

  7. First key...relax.

Even if you are running hard, remind yourself to relax.  The more relax you are, the more efficient you will be.  The more relax you are, the more air you can breathe in.

  8. well if youre stomping try running more on the outside portion of your foot... i don't mean completely just try focusing the weight... and i guess don't slap your foot down hard.... idk its tough but practice
