I got my two rats a wheel when I bought them a bigger cage. they recently a couple days ago finally figured out what the wheel is for. So all night they have been running and running. The wheel squeaking is keeping me up all night. I don't want to take it away from them because the obviously enjoy it. How so I safely grease up the wheel?

  1. Butter!!!  Just smear it on and around the connections, it lasts a long time and is safe if they l**k it off.

  2. Miss Kitten is right- Vegetable oil is the best choice. :]

  3. I would p0ut some vegetable oil on it. Or some kind of oil that is really greasy but safe for them to l**k off

  4. try using vegetable oil, it won't harm the rat if it's ingested. =]

  5. Olive oil or vegetable oil. However, I'd actually advise removing the wheel and purchasing a good solid one (Silent Spinners work great /and/ they're quieter than wire wheels). Wire wheels are extremely dangerous and many animals, including rats, break their legs or tails in them.

  6. Olive oils safe, or see if you can put some washers/spacers on it to quieten it.......
