get serious about getting involved in an energy policy.  Talk to your congressperson who is developing the energy policy.  The Today show had a Pris mod that got 100mpg.  Why aren't we hearing about this from the car manufacturers.  You want to save and the gasoline distributors want to sell more high priced gas.

Coast whenever possible, turn off a/c when not needed but keep windows up, drive slower like 55, ride share.

Get a bicycle. Or get a diesel engine and convert it to bio-diesel  . Fast food chains usually give away used cooking oil.

Change the air filter....u can also try not going out too much....When i get in my car I try to accomplish everything I have to do in one day.

Walk, take a bike, use cruise control, don't go anywhere unless you have to.

During WWII, gasoline was rationed, most gasoline was sent to the army's and navy fighting the war. It was not available to people who needed it, like farmers and people living in the country.

They set up stills and distilled straight alcohol and used it as a gas replacement in everything from tractors to the family car. It doesn't have to be drinkable if you are going to burn it in your car. Remember, Indy 500 race cars run on 100% alcohol.

Of course today, the ATF may get a little pissy about you making your lawn clippings and spoiled veggies into fuel.

Only one way today to save on gas, drive less. So your only option is to plan your trips so you include more things and drive less.  Also introduce the kids to bicycles so they can go to the store for you and ride to school, activities, etc.

certian creditcard companys offer gas - credit cards that can save about five to twenty cents a gallon although if you live in pittsburgh certian supermarkets offer "fuel perks" witch if you buy alot can even add up to a free tank

The only way for the price of gas to go down is to decrease consumption or increase supply.  Congress is not to keen on increasing supply.
