  1. there is a product called green bags ... they do work on a lot of produce as long as u use them as they say to ....  also putting the produce in a crisper drawer and setting it to the lowest moisture setting helps

https://www.greenbags.com/?cid=372619       they sell these on qvc and they have great customer reviews

  2. (Despite the length of my answer, this method isn't nearly as labor-intensive as it might seem here, nor will you consume especially large numbers of paper towels.) Since lettuce responds particularly well to this little trick, I will use it as my example. Before storing a head of lettuce in the frig, peel off each leaf, layer by layer. If there are any damaged areas on the leaf (e.g., wilted, rotted, or discolored), remove them by tearing (not cutting). Then, rinse each leaf very well in cool, running water. Shake off excess water. Lay out several layers of white flour-sack towels or paper towels upon which you place a single layer of lettuce leaves, followed by another layer or two of towels. Continue to stack alternating layers of lettuce and towels. Pat them gently until lettuce is COMPLETELY dry. You may have to dry a few leaves individually. Finally, loosely stack lettuce and fresh, dry towels as before and seal in a large zippy bag. Make sure that the lettuce rests against the towel, not the plastic baggie. Stick the whole package in the frig where it won't be smashed too much, and pull out clean, ready-to-eat pieces of lettuce as needed.

  3. I wrap my celery in aluminum foil and that keeps it fresh for a lot longer than wrapping it in plastic.  Other than that, I keep them in the vegetable crisper in their original wrapper.

If I know I won't be able to eat some vegetables soon enough, I'll cook them and freeze them.  I've even diced up onions and greenpeppers and froze them in ice cube trays - then pop the cubes into a plastic bag in the freezer and I can defrost a cube or two when I need them to flavor soups, stews, pizza toppings....

  4. Well, there are these Debby Meyer green bags, but I don't now how well they work.... The commercial seems hopeful though.

    I saw them on T.V.
