How do I seal between my bathtub fixture (spout) and the fiberglass tub?

Water is getting into my walls along the copper pipe that supplies the water to my tub. The fixture that the water comes from is about 1/4 inch away from the side of the fiberglass tub and needs to be sealed against the tub wall to stop water flowing behind it. How do I seal this stainless steal fixture to the fiberglass tub wall without it looking abnormal?

  1. Just use some caulking to seal the space.  The caulk is water based, so let it dry overnight, before using the shower.

  2. I think you don't have enough length there.  That pipe needs to stick out more(1-1 1/2") Ask the plumbing store if it is not mentioned in the installation instructions because it goes in a ways inside the spout and then a clamp holds onto the pipe with a set s***w from the underside.    You won't be able to do it otherwise.    Bring down digital pictures so they know what you are talking about. exactly.
