How do I seal my DIY shoes?

Recently, I've started doodling on my new canvas sneakers using Staedtler triplus fineliner pens.. The pens are acid-free and have water-based ink. Would I be able to seal my artwork on the shoes so that it won't fade/bleed right away? Would using Mod Podge over the drawing work?

Use some spray polyurethane,  Though it may make the shoes a bit stiff it will protect your pen work a lot longer than what it will last right now.  Polyurethane really is not for flexible surfaces but It will probably last at least a few weeks or so.  Just keep applying the polyurethane every now and then.
