  1. Depends on what IM client you use.

    And it also depends on whether you have activated that option in the settings control of your IM client.

    If you use yahoo messenger and the "save previous messages" has been activated  try:

              Contacts => Message Archive

    If you use msn without messenger plus live than there is no saving of previous messages.With messenger pus live plug-in click on the plug-in icon and click on archive.
