I am currently researching and writing a non-fiction book. It would help me enormously to be able to find and view relevant TV news items (and current affair items) relevant to my book. Does anyone know how or where I go about doing so? .... most of the material I am after is within the last 18 months..

  1. If you know which stories you wish to look at, or the type of stories then I would telephone the newsroom of the TV stations and ask if you may have access to the "News video library" and how much they would charge for any copies you may wish to make, and when you may be able to go into the studio to look at the videos either in the library or in one of the editing suites.

They will most likely ask you to go into the newsroom in the morning as it can be hectic at certain time of the day.

The person to contact is the "News Director" who is the person in charge of the newsroom and he may them pass you onto a librarian in the news video library.
