Question:

How do I secure a washer pan to the floor?

We just had our clothes washer and dryer delivered to our house and the delivery team said they wouldn't install the washer because the washer drain pan isn't "secured" to the floor. Is there a good way other than nails to secure the wash pan to the floor?

  1. I have never seen one secured to a floor; that defeats the purpose of the pan. The weight of the washer should hold it in place.

  2. My guess is that you were getting a front loading machine and the pan was on a fairly slippery floor.  Then the installation people were responding to the conditions that they saw.

My friend had a drain pan under his 2ed floor front loading washing machine in his kitchen.  The machine would travel across the floor until it ran out of slack or hit something.  We solved that problem by putting vibration pads (available in central AC supply house) under the drain pan and between the machine and the pan.

In your case you will have to call the people who delivered the machine and ask they what they expect to install the machine.   If that option is closed, speak to your supplier or as a last resort the manufacturer.
