Question:

How do I self-administer an injection?

I would like to inject vitamin B12 and C. I actually tried to inject vitamin C into my stomach but was in extreme discomfort for 3-4 hrs and was sore for over a week. I believe it needs to be intramuscular so maybe the stomach was not a good idea. I used a 18 gauge, 1 inch needle. Any suggestions to make this process less painful would be appreciated.

  1. did you check with you Dr. on the proper way to do it.

  2. You need to talk to your doctor about this.  He can run a lab test to make sure you're really needing these.  If you do, they will teach you the proper techniques for injecting.  I can't believe you stuck an 18ga 1" needle into your stomach! OUCH! No wonder you hurt for a week- that's huge!  Next question- how did you get ahold of all of this??? Somethign just doesn't seem right in all of this...

  3. Aren't vitamins B12 and C water soluble? You can absorb them really well across your stomach just from eating them, so as long as you can keep pills down there's no need to inject them. Injecting into your abdomen could be dangerous, you may give yourself peritonitis if you don't know what you're doing, especially if you're injecting fluid that isn't sterile.

  4. take vitamins instead?
