Question:

How do I sell 1000 tents?

I have acquired 1000 tents of various sizes from 1-10 person capacity. I would like to sell them for a fraction of their retail value. If possible I would like to sell to a relief or charity agency of some sort that will make good use of them. Any ideas?

  1. eBay

  2. Most non-profit organizations will not buy them from you unless "tents" are something they already have in their budget for the next fiscal year. Speaking as a former council level employee for the Boy Scouts, if you came to me with an offer to sell me 1000 tents I'd say "No Thanks", and if I really needed one, I would ask you to donate it instead. Non-profit organizations might take them off your hands if you donate them, but spending money they don't have isn't something they are likely to do.

I would put them on eBay. Your chances of selling them are much greater. Individuals (scouts, scoutmasters, backcountry SAR team members, etc.) may get a good deal in the auction.

  3. Look for 1001 Arabian Knights.........

  4. I have been with the Boy Scouts for almost 10 years now and we are always looking for a good deal so long as it is in our budget.  You did not mention what brand they are.  I would think that your best bet would be ebay or craigslist.

  5. Try the local boy and girls scout organizations in your area. They should have contact information online or in the phone book. These are just two organizations that would greatly appreciate a good deal, there are probably many other youth oriented organizations who would be interested in a 'deal'.

  6.   u may write  short notes about your tents  and stick them on (down of) street lights so that every one can see them ...... or go to some tent shops and selthem-on  on a little  less price u bought them...

  7. I was a Scoutmaster for a Boy Scout troop for 7 years, and one constant in that organization is that every troop could use some help. There are a lot of young boys starting in Scouts that can't afford uniforms, much less camping equipment. There are also needs for larger tents at summer camp locations, and for day camps. You could contact either your local Scout Council or the national office, and they would be glad to make a deal. And just to be fair to the other youth groups, there's also the Girl Scouts, Indian Guides and Princesses (through the YMCA), 4H, and others.

  8. EBay or Craigslist are always good places to sell stuff.  If you want them to go to a good cause like a charity you probably have to just give them away.  I bet Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts would love to have them.
