Question:

How do I sell my SUV???

It's an 04, not a lot of miles, great condition 20" rims, tinted windows, etc... but I just can't seem to sell it, we have it priced WAY below what it's worth... I have it on websites, newspaper... just can't seem to do it.

I thought about putting it on ebay, but we still owe some on it, so we absolutely have enough to pay it off.

I thought about going to carmax just to sell, not to buy... but the closest to us is in Tulsa... over 2 hours away, not sure if it'd be worth it.

I"m just looking for ideas... or what do you think about ebay or carmax... bad experiences or good.

Thanks in advance.

  1. You have already discovered that the market for SUV's has dried up. It is hard to even get someone to "take over payments" any longer. Carmax won't give you what you owe so don't waste the trip to see them. No offense but if you have the stock wheels and tires, you would be better off putting them back on. (You may be able to sell the 20's) Before you try the eBay route, try Craigslist. It's free and has a lot of potential buyers. Just be aware there are a number of scammers (just like on eBay) looking to cheat you. Don't get desparate and wind up trading it off on a new car just to become "buried" by adding the negative equity you already have to another car's payments.

  2. As you know, everything in life is timing.  Our country is in a severe recession and the oil/gas is fueling it.  There doesn't seem to be a light at the end of this tunnel either.  Needless to say, no one wants a dinosaur.  With little time to explain, the 20" wheels don't help matters at this point either.

If you are upside down in the payments, what is owed, I see only one solution to the problem.  There are lots of dealers not selling Anything right now and they will bend over backwards to show sales on their books.  Find one that will work w/u regarding what is owed on your vehicle and purchase a car from them; new or near new.  You will lose on the monster truck (trade in) but you will gain on the economy car.  Get rid of the headache and just chalk it up as a loss.  Think of the gas money you'll save, registration and car insurance too with the new purchase.  Bite the bullet and go do it.  Sorry.  Best of luck.
