How do I send a text message from a computer to a land line?

Ok, I am trying to get a hlod of my fiancee but his number doesn't take collect calls and I have no money. but I have the net so is there a way to send a message on the computer to him.... to tell him what's going on??? Well, I know you can b/c people used to prank me this way... I just don't know how.... PLease help!!

You can't send texts to land lines.

You can email him or IM him, but there's no such thing as a text message to a land line.

if you are in the UK, and the landline is from BT, then just text the  landline number as same as you text normal mobile phone... I tried that from my mobile phone and it worked,, there is a software that reads wht you wrote, and people hears your message in the voicemail box.

But, is there any free texting sites, where you can send messages free of charge? if you know any please let me know :)
