I want to let the people in the city I live in know about a service I'm offering. I always get little post cards or letters from local businesses. How do I get the addresses and than how do I pay for the mass mailing? I don't have to buy individual stamps, do I?

  1. Hi JC.

You can purchase mailing lists with viable names and addresses of folks in your community from a Direct Mail company. You may, however, want to ask for their help in fine tuning your mailing list. Does your product appeal to men more than women, or vice-versa? Are you expecting people to drive clear across town for your product or service, or are you primarily trying to reach homes within a certain mile radius of your business? These are just a few of the parameters you may wish to consider in developing your final mailing list. You will find it much less expensive to mail to a targeted list than it is to mail to everyone - your postage savings alone should help pay for the mailing list.

And speaking of postage, no, you don't have to buy and affix individual stamps. If you purchase a set amount of postage from the post office, then can run your letters through a stamping machine. That should save some wear and tear on your tongue.

    Good luck.
