I have to send a few packages and I've never been inside the post office to do that kind of stuff before. What do I tell them when I'm there? What do I ask? Thanks in advance!

  1. usps is cheaper for packages under 1 pound (onces). Ups & fed Ex are cheaper for packages a pound or more plus insurance is included. If you use usps make sure you put insurance on the packages cause they do lose and give packages to people wrong houses. Also you will get nothing but the run around trust me. Also pay all bills online or phone or bill pay.

  2. Dittos to the above.

    It's really very simple.

  3. Have them wrapped correctly.  Have mailing labels on them stating the full address of where they are going along with your return address.  Have all this done before you get to the counter so others are not waiting on you to do that.

Tell the post office how fast you want the packages to get there.  We have found that in most cases the packages will get where we want them just as fast using 1st class mail as paying the extra for priority mail so we don't bother with the extra cost.  If you want the packages insured be sure to tell them and pay for the insurance.  If you packed them well that may not be needed depending on what the items are and what they cost.
