I want to set up a dial up connection but need to disconnect if the phone rings. What changes need to be made to the settings for this to happen? I've never had a disconnect problem before but need it to disconnect now.

  1. im not sure about disconnecting but do you know about callwave? google it, its a program where when your on the internet and someone calls you they get a message that says "the person you are trying to call is using callwave leave a message" then you get notified on your computer and you can listen to who ever called you and decide if youre going to disconnect and call them back or not. sorta like an answering machine for while your online. hope this helps

  2. Call CallWave

    They have options for you.

  3. To use 'Callwave'...you ALSO have to order 'Busy Call Forwarding' to your phone service.!! So between Callwave and busy call forwarding, this will cost you around $10.00 a month.!! Is it worth it.??? When I am on the computer, I use 'Call Forwarding', to send all calls to my cell phone. Only about $3.00 a month..(A lot cheaper.) If I don't answer my cell, it goes to my cells voicemail..

  4. What you need is called MOH - Modem On Hold!

Few people seem to know this:

For MOH, You need to meet 3 conditions:

    1 - a V.92 dial-up Modem (most are now days)

2 - Your ISP must support V.92 MOH service (call & ask them)

3 - Call Waiting - subscribe to call waiting with your Telco

    4 - Caller-ID - subscribe to caller-ID with you Telco (optional)

V.92 dial-up modems detect when phone calls come in while you are surfing. It notifies you of incoming call and allows you to put your Internet connection On-Hold and answer the incoming phone call. When done, you can resume surfing.

It is that simple.  You don't need to subscribe to any other 3rd party paid services .

But, you must be subscribed to Call Waiting with your telco.

And, the modem will display on your computer the Caller ID of number calling, if subscribed to Caller ID service, too.

Never miss a call again while surfing over Dial-up!

  5. if you have dial-up and someone calls your house, then it gives them a busy signal....just get calllwave.com....
