you can utilize the your group's calendar to set a reminder in your groups. Just click on "Add event" link at the top of the day, week or month view of the group calendar. This is great since as an owner you can even allo or restrict selected members to access this calendar.

Login to Yahoo groups.

Go to Your group

click on calendar

on the right hand menu click on add task.
