How do I set the PS2 to output 480p with component cables?

Got component cables for my PS2 and hooked them in and started playing Resident Evil 4 and it output at 480i. I thought comp. are supposed to output at 480p. I went into system setting on the PS2 and set the display to "RBG" and now the screen is blank and I can't see anything. Anyone know how to get the screen back and set it to 480p? Thankyou

Go back to your old cables so you can reset the component to Y Pr Pb then switch back to the component cables. Component can do anything from 480i to 1080p depending on the devices capabilities. The PS2 does not output progressive. 480i is the limit.
