How do I set the shutter speed for Canon Powershot S3IS ?

  1. the manual explains exactly what you need to find out

Tv mode, which is Shutter priority mode, you can set it from 1/2000 (i think) up to 15 seconds. depending on what your doing, you wont really be able to expose the sensor longer than 1/15th during the day time. at night you can go to 15 seconds, if you wanna get a waterfall or somethin, wait till late afternoon or very early morning, OR you can get an Neutral Density filter which will limit the light let in so you can use slower shutters during daylight

  3. In Tv (shutter priority) mode, you should be able to set the shutter speed using the D-pad.  In most of the auto modes you probably don't get a choice.  "P," "M," and "C" modes might work too.
