How do I set up LAN to play a game, such as AOE3?

I'd like to learn to use this, but I don't know where to get started.

You will need a router to hook your computers too. I VERY much recommend hardwire connections instead of wireless connections because too many games slow down too much (to the point where you can't play) if you use wireless. Each computer hooks up to the router using an ethernet cable and the router connescts to your modem and the modem to your internet. Routers come with pretty simple instructions these days but the cables can get a bit pricey. Hope this helps.

First of all, you need to take a look at your network settings.  How many people are involved in the "lan" party and are they hooked up by a wireless card or ethernet cable.  Also, if they are connected to the network, are their or your firewalls blocking any connections from coming in.  You might need to change the settings in your firewall to get them to be able to join.
