I'm having troubles setting up my land line phone. I plugged it into the wall jack and it's plugged into a power source. There's a dial tone when I turn it on but nothing happens when I dial numbers. What am I missing?

  1. Try dialing 9 first.

Some PBX phone systems require an "outside line" access code such as 9, or possibly something else...

    --------------------------------------...

Are you dialing at least 7 digits (local call: x*x-xxxx)?

Or, in some areas in USA/Canada it is now necessary to dial 10 digit number to make local calls (x*x-x*x-xxxx).

And, of course, if dialing long distance within USA/Canada you need to dial 11 digits (1-x*x-x*x-xxxx)

If still not working, then try pushing # key after dialing the number.

  2. Call your phone company (on another line) and tell them what your problem is, more than likely they forgot to give you dial out service when they set you up, happened to me one time, they can fix that fairly easily and quickly.
