How do I set up a used Tivo?

My boyfriend is giving my his old TIVO the series 1 I believe, and I am having a hard time setting it up, especially since I want it to be wireless. I can;t find a way to reset the box. Has anyone used a used tivo before and was able to set it up correctly?

Hi lindselliott,

The series 1 TiVo does not support wireless connections. You will have to connect your TiVo to your phone line.

If you aren't going to subscribe to the TiVo service you don't have to connect the series 1. You can manually program it like an old VCR.

If you are going to subscribe you would be better off buying a series 2 or HD TiVo.
