I received a missed call from The number (212)777-3456.I didn't get a message, so I called back.It turned out to be a movie info line.Later that day I got the call again and answered it and it was an Indian sounding woman who claim she was from a company called governmentgrandsnow.com, which is a website I visited to learn about Government Grants.I realized it was a scam because why would a government grant agency call from a movie info line?I checked again to make sure and confirmed that the woman did call me from that number.I would like to fill out a form on their website and give a number that leads to the FBI or a police station who can screen the call. How can I go about doing that?

  1. First, these guys are crooks and are potentially dangerous.  Never ... never give them personal information about yourself.

There are websites that discuss scamming the scammers, but again it is urged that you be very careful when dealing with the scam artists.

Most of the sites suggest that you simply string the potential scam artist along.  The idea is by making the scam artist spend time courting you, it is less time that they will have to actually spend scamming others out of their money.

In the past, I have fought against Nigerian 419 scams ... and was successful in stringing them along for months, with them sending me demands for payment and me complaining that I haven't talked to anyone or asking for an invoice or papers to show what exactly I am paying for.

It takes them time to prepare forged and fake documents and I have read of others who bait these scammers who have managed to get the scammers to call and leave messages on their phones.  In one case a scammer called and sang, on voicemail "If you wanna be my lover" ... the entire song!

Ultimately they eventually catch on and will stop bugging you ... but it is fun for a little while ... but again these guys are INTERNATIONAL criminals and can be dangerous.

  2. I had a similar situation happen to me. I called the local police and they said it wasn't in their jurisdiction. So I called the FBI and they said they knew about it, but since it only happened the once they wouldn't be able to investigate it.

  3. You can file a complaint on the FBI website, in the division of internet fraud.  Here is the link
